What breaks your heart? What stirs your spirit? Where do your deepest passions meet the world’s deepest needs?

These are important questions, often pointing directly to your Kingdom calling.

Many Christians today feel a nudge toward something more. They dream about launching a project, starting a business, or stepping into a creative new form of ministry. But they get stuck at the starting line, not knowing how to name or clarify launching their idea.

Here’s the good news: You don’t need a mountaintop vision or a booming voice from heaven to get started. Sometimes the clearest callings come from listening to the burden God has already placed in you.

The Power of Holy Discontent

Missional entrepreneurs often begin with what is called “holy discontent.” It’s that ache you feel when something in the world isn’t as it should be—and you can’t stop thinking about how to make it better.

It might be a neighborhood in decline. A generation walking away from the church. Families experiencing homelessness. Teens without mentors. Seniors living in isolation. A lack of Christian influence in the arts, business, or government.

Whatever it is, you don’t have to fix everything. But you’re probably called to do something.

That’s how many of the most powerful Kingdom projects begin:

  • A Christian entrepreneur sees young adults leaving the church and creates a café where faith conversations happen over coffee.

  • A church member recognizes a single mom in crisis and launches a nonprofit to support women in transition.

  • A team of friends notices how isolated their neighbors are and starts a dinner church on Friday nights.

The spark? It came from listening to where their passion intersected with brokenness.

From Confusion to Clarity

If you’ve ever said things like:

  • “I feel like God’s stirring something in me—but I don’t know what.”

  • “I have so many ideas. I’m not sure which one to focus on.”

  • “I know I want to make a difference, but I don’t know how.”

You’re in good company.

Clarity isn’t always instant. But there are ways to cultivate it:

  1. Pray: Ask God directly—“What are You doing, and how can I join You?”

  2. Journal: What burdens won’t leave you alone? What conversations energize you? What wrongs do you feel compelled to make right?

  3. Pay attention: What do others affirm in you? Where do people already come to you for help, wisdom, or ideas?

  4. Name it: Try writing a one-sentence Kingdom purpose statement. (Example: “I help disconnected young adults discover faith and community through art and storytelling.”)

Your Calling Doesn’t Need To Be Loud

We often imagine calling as something dramatic. God doesn’t measure impact by likes or followers. He looks for faithfulness.

As Hudson Taylor once said, “The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.”

You don’t need to figure everything out. But you do need to say yes to what God has already shown you.

What’s Stirring in You?

Maybe you already know your calling, but you’ve been hesitating. Maybe you need to pray through it again. Or maybe this is your first time even considering yourself a Kingdom entrepreneur.

Wherever you are, don’t ignore what God is saying to you.
