Six months later, still nobody’s coming.
That’s not a verdict on your leadership. It’s a mismatch. That other church built their ministry for the specific people God placed around them, in their season, with their staff. You borrowed the shape of it and skipped the part that actually mattered: who it was for.
Every church exists for a mission field, and yours isn’t the same mission field as the church you visited. The single mom two streets over. The retired factory worker who hasn’t set foot in a sanctuary since his wife’s funeral. The family that just moved in and doesn’t know a soul in town. They’re not the people that other church’s ministry was built to reach. They’re yours. Ask what need that other church was really meeting, not what program they used to meet it. Ask whether your people have what it takes to sustain this past the launch excitement. Ask, plainly: Does this reach the person God actually placed near our doors, or does it reach someone else’s neighbor?
The best God ideas in your church are rarely a copy of someone else’s.
